Built for the people who
answer their own phone.
PhoneGal is a fully-managed AI receptionist for small businesses. Run by a small team in Louisville, Kentucky — we set it up, we tune it, we keep it running. You forward your phone and stop missing calls.
Why PhoneGal exists
A plumber on a roof can't pick up. An electrician driving between jobs can't pick up. A salon owner mid-cut can't pick up. The caller gets voicemail, hangs up, and dials the next business on Google. The contractor just lost a $300–$1,200 job and didn't even know the phone rang.
That's the problem PhoneGal was built to solve. But every existing “AI receptionist” we looked at solved it the wrong way — as software you have to configure yourself. Sign up, fill out a dashboard, write your own prompts, troubleshoot when something sounds off, file a support ticket when you need to change a price. That model works for marketers and developers. It doesn't work for a plumber.
Contractors don't want to configure software. They want a receptionist. So we built PhoneGal as a service, not software. When you sign up, we get on a short call. We learn about your business — hours, services, pricing, FAQs, how you want her to sound, what to do for emergencies. We set up your gal. We test the line ourselves. We email you forwarding instructions. The next time someone calls your business number, they hear your PhoneGal, and you get a text with the lead seconds after the call ends.
When your business changes — new services, new hours, new emergency rules — you email or call us. We update her. No dashboards. No prompts to write. No software to learn.
This is true on every plan. The difference between Starter and Max isn't whether you get the white-glove service — it's call volume, integrations, and support priority. The service IS the product.
We also care about how the gal sounds. The cheapest AI voices give the game away in the first sentence — the caller hears “robot” and the trust is gone. We use Cartesia, the best-in-class TTS for natural female voices. It's why our pricing starts at $149/month and not $59. The voice is the brand. We don't cut corners there.
About Seb
Seb Fontan built PhoneGal. He's based in Louisville, Kentucky — same hometown as our demo line's area code — and has been building software professionally for the better part of two decades, with a side habit of shipping indie products of his own.
PhoneGal is the second of those. The first is Neatbase, a database for people who think in notes. Both are built with the same philosophy: ship products you'd use yourself, charge enough to make them sustainable, and treat customers like people, not funnels.
When PhoneGal is small — and it's small — Seb is the one who picks up when you call the demo line follow-up. That's a feature, not a bug. The first 50 customers are going to shape what this product becomes.
